food recipes - Huevos en salsa de almendras (eggs in almond sauce)
You will need
8 hard boiled eggs, quartered
20 blanched almonds
2 cloves garlic
2 slices of bread
1 tablespoon dry sherry 10 peppercorns
saffron
big pinch cinnamon
1 clove
300ml water or stock
parsley
In a pan heat some oil and fry the almonds,garlic
and bread until the bread is crisp and the almonds golden. Put this
into a blender and add the sherry, peppercorns, saffron, cinnamon,
clove and (if using) a pinch of salt. Blend to a paste with a little
of the water or stock and return it to the pan with the remaining
liquid. Simmer for 5 minutes then add the hard boiled eggs and let
them heat through. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve with
toast, bread or rice.

Tostados
This is wonderful at any time of day, we have it
for breakfast at about 10, or as a snack or starter.
You will need:
- A day old barra (french stick)
- A peeled clove of garlic
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Fresh tomato
Slice the barra lengthwise and toast until golden,
then rub the toasted side with the garlic clove
all over. Take the tomato and slice in half and
rub vigourously over the toast. Drizzle lots and
lots of olive oil onto the toast let it soak in
and enjoy! Some people like to sprinkle a little
salt on too.
